چکیده

In this paper, two probabilistic adaptive algorithms for jointly detecting active users in a DS-CDMA system are compared. The rst one, which is based on the theory of Hidden Markov Models (HMM) is proposed within the CDMA scenario and compared with the previously developed Viterbi-based algorithm. Both techniques are completely blind in the sense that no knowledge of the signature sequences, channel state information or training sequences is required for any user. After convergence, an estimate of the signature of each user convolved with its physical channel impulse response (CIR), and estimated data sequences are provided. This CIR estimate can then be used to switch to any decision-directed (DD) adaptation scheme. Performance of the algorithms is veri ed with simulations as well as with experimental data from an Underwater Acoustics (UWA) environment. In both cases, performance is found to be highly satisfactory, showing the near-far resistance of the analyzed algorithms.

Probabilistic algorithms for blind adaptive multiuser detection

In this paper, two probabilistic adaptive algorithms for jointly detecting active users in a DS-CDMA system are reported. The first one, which is based on the theory of hidden Markov models (HMM’s) and the Baum–Wech (BW) algorithm, is proposed within the CDMA scenario and compared with the second one, which is a previously developed Viterbi-based algorithm. Both techniques are completely blind ...

Blind adaptive multiuser detection based on Kalman filtering

Although several Kalman filtering algorithms have been presented for adaptive multiuser detection, none is “blind” due to requiring training data sequences and/or more knowledge than the spreading waveform and delay of the desired user. This paper proposes a novel blind adaptive multiuser detector based on Kalman filtering and compares it with previously published LMS and RLS algorithms for bli...

Averaging blind sign algorithms for adaptive multiuser detection

This paper illustrates the use of “averaging” to improve the convergence rate of adaptive sign regressor and sign error multiuser detectors. The ingenious concept of averaging was invented by Polyak in 1990 – this paper analyses the performance of averaging in the sign error and sign regressor adaptive blind multiuser detection algorithms in DS/CDMA Systems.

Blind Adaptive Multiuser Detection with Averaging for Cellular Systems

In this paper, we consider blind adaptive multiuser detection in Correlated Waveform Multiple-Access (CWMA)based cellular radio networks. A common stochastic approximation (SA) based framework is proposed from which three blind adaptive algorithms for linear MMSE detection are obtained. Two of them coincide with previously proposed algorithms and the third is shown to be best suited for impleme...

A study of the application of blind adaptive Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE) and Parallel Interference Cancellation (PIC) multiuser detection techniques to Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA), the physical layer of Universal Mobile Telecommunication System (UMTS), has been performed as part of the Freeband Adaptive Wireless Networking project. This study was started with an analysis...
